NEWS!
Reddick Public Library District is proud to have received two FY08 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grants!
1. $40,000 for a
project titled Reddick on the Road
On the heels of a successful, yet hard-won campaign to
become a district library, the Reddick Library in Ottawa would now
like
to expand and extend services to our new rural patrons.
Reddick on the Road would offer external services, programs,
and
traveling collections to various groups within our new district
boundaries - including hospital day facilities, nursing homes, rural
schools, youth organizations, and career training agencies.
The library will hire a Community Relations Coordinator to provide
energetic and professional leadership to develop and sustain an
innovative, user-centered outreach program in collaboration
with our community partners.
Our community partners include the following agencies:
Community Hospital of Ottawa Adult Day Center, Ravlin Congregate
Center, Rutland
Community Consolidated School District, Ottawa YMCA,
Business Employment Skills Team
(BEST),
Ottawa Area
Chamber of Commerce
2. $4,900 for a
project titled You Gotta Have Art: Providing the Arts for
Homeschoolers @ the Library
After passing a successful referendum, Reddick Library
surveyed our new district patrons for additional services they
desired.
The home schooling population struck a chord. This grant will
fill the need. The Ottawa YMCA offers physical
education to home
school families. The library will complement studies with
regularly scheduled programs providing art, music, and drama
sessions.
Audio and visual resources from Reddick's collection will be
incorporated. The programs will culminate in an exhibit of
student artwork.
