RootsWeb- Provides access to federal and state records, mailing lists and over 500,000 surname files.

USGenWeb Project- This volunteer-run site provides links to family reunion bulletin boards, historical archives and research projects.

Library databases

With your Reddick Library card, you can also access the library's two genealogy databases:

Heritage Quest- This online database is an essential collection of unique material for both genealogical and historical researchers, with coverage dating back to the late 1700s. Researchers can use HeritageQuest Online to find their ancestors, trace their paths across America, and learn what life was like in the areas where they settled. Your Reddick Library card is required to access this databse from home.

Ancestry Library - The Ancestry Library Edition collection has approximately 4,000 databases including key collections such as U.S. Federal Census images and indexes from 1790 to 1930. The Map Center contains more than 1,000 historical maps: American Genealogical Biographical Index ; Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage ;The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1630; Social Security Death Index ; WWI Draft Registration Cards; Federal Slave Narratives; and a strong Civil War collection. This service is available in the library only. Come in and ask us about it.

Worldwide Genealogy Top 100- Provides links to databases of surnames, vital records, military documents and other materials both free and fee based.

National Genealogical Society- With over 17,000 members, the NGS provides training, assistance, news, and other resources.

Ancestry.com- This site lists over 274 million names in 1728 databases.  It contains both free and subscription-based resources. 

Family Search- This database is searchable by surname, geography and other categories.

GeneaNet- An index of databases providing news and forums for both beginning and advanced genealogists.

Specialized Resources  

Adoption Registry- Start looking for lost birth relatives.

AfriGeneas- A comprehensive source for research into African ancestry.

Holocaust Global Registry- A central place for anyone looking for Holocaust survivors.
