Leap Frogs is a story hour for children who have turned three years old by September 1, 2009. Younger siblings have the opportunity to attend Tiny Tadpoles during this time. Parents are encouraged to leave their child to participate in the activities alone with their peers. One of our goals is to teach the children to be part of a classroom and prepare them for the transition to kindergarten; however, parents must remain in the building. Morning sessions begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and the afternoon sessions begin at 1:00 p.m. Sign up for either Tuesday or Wednesday morning sessions, or Wednesday afternoon sessions. By signing up for a particular day and time, your child is registered for all sessions.
The child must be pre-registered in one of the 16 spaces available for each story time. When spaces are filled, a waiting list will be created. Any registered child who misses one session without contacting us in advance will surrender the space to the next child on the waiting list.
Tiny Tadpoles are special storytimes for the library's tiniest patrons where a parent or caregiver is a part of the program. Stories, fingerplays, music, social playtime, and peer interactions are incorporated into the 55 minute program. Penny Basenhard (Mrs. B), the facilitator, is a former Kindergarten and Preschool teacher.
For Tots 6 months to 3 years old.
*There are no afternoon sessions for Tadpoles.
